Since the CSM household will be taking a long weekend and going on a fun fall adventure by camping in the mountains this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, I thought the CSM blog could show a little autumn appreciation, too. I came across Laurie’s “I Heart Autumn” tag post on The Frugal Farmer the other day and thought it was a fun read – and I wanted to get in the fall spirit here and do my own!
The idea for the “I ♥ Autumn” tag originated with Girl Meets Debt, and here’s how it works: if you have your own blog, you can make your own post answering the questions below or you can provide your answers in the comments. Be sure to include a link back to this post when you share your own answers on your blog! If you don’t have a blog, you can still be in on the fun – just leave your answers in the comments of this post.
Let’s get to the autumn-inspired questions!
1. What signifies the start of Autumn for you?
As a Southerner, the surest sign of fall is that the humidity is gone! The sky becomes a certain shade of blue and oftentimes there isn’t a cloud to be seen.
2. What is your favorite Fall scent?
I love almost anything that says “apple spice” on it. Really, anything that’s got an apple aroma is good and the perfect fall scent – fresh baked apple pies, apple cider, apple butter.. alright, now I’m hungry.
3. What is you favorite Autumn color?
Interesting question – I’m not sure I’ve ever thought about it before. I think my favorite fall color would have to be the color of the light that comes through the leaves as they’re changing. I’m not quite sure how to describe it.
4. What is your favorite Fall drink?
Believe it or not, I’ve never really liked pumpkin spice lattes – I know, I know, I must be some sort of heathen – but I do love Starbucks’ caramel apple spice (no big surprise after my favorite fall scent list!)
5. What TV show, new or old are you looking forward to this Fall?
The thing I get most excited about on TV during the fall is football! And my Colts are looking awesome this year (even though watching Denver is making me pine for the Manning days – they are just dominating everything that comes their way). But as far as actual shows.. I’ve got to wait on Game of Thrones and Sherlock, two of my favorites, until next year, so in the meantime I’m getting into Broadchurch, catching up with season 5 of Parks & Rec, and finishing season 4 of The League (yes, I watch everything via Netflix).
6. What is your favorite Fall fashion trend?
Typically, my fall uniform consists of skinny jeans and boots. And cardigans.. lots of cardigans. Not sure if any of these count as a trend, but I’ve never been super trendy so you’ll have to excuse me if my answer committed some sort of fashion faux pas.
7. What is your favorite frugal Autumn activity?
Camping! And backpacking, too.
8. Are you a bigger fan of Thanksgiving or Halloween?
I’d have to say Thanksgiving. I stopped caring so much about Halloween when the bagfuls of candy ceased when I became too old for trick-or-treating, and I turned instead to Thanksgiving. After all, it doesn’t matter what age you are that day.. everyone is expected to eat massive quantities of food regardless. That’s my kind of holiday.
So now it’s your turn! What are your answers to these fun fall questions? Have any other favorite parts about fall that these questions don’t cover? Please share in the comments! I look forward to reading everyone’s answers.
